Have you always wanted to try turkey hunting but don\'t know where to start? It is a very popular sport and there are hundreds of thousands of other hunters. Like other types of hunting, it is a sport that has a long history behind it.

In the past hunting was a necessity so that families would have meat to eat. These days most people get their meat at the supermarket but some hunters still enjoy eating meat that they have hunted and killed.

Turkey hunting is overwhelmingly a male dominated sport although there are some women who enjoy hunting. Some families enjoy hunting together. Many fathers and sons have warm memories of bonding during hunting season and enjoy teaching their sons to hunt to continue the tradition.

Turkey hunting can be done in the fall or in the spring. Even though at first it can seem like there are a lot of regulations that you need to follow and permits to get before you can start. It\'s really not as confusing as it might seem. Once you find out what the hunting requirements are where you live and learn what gear you really need and what gear you can do without getting out hunting seems a lot easier.

While there are people that disapprove of hunting if hunting is done under the right circumstances and for the right reasons hunting can be a great way to get out and see the outdoors. If you are looking for a way to get your older children up off the couch and into the outdoors then hunting might be a good sport to explore.
