Turkey hunting is fun and has a lot of benefits. Whether you like to hunt because of the sport of it or just want to get out into the great outdoors hunting can be a great experience.

Turkey hunting is a good choice because you can hunt turkeys in the spring and in the fall. So then you have a reason to get out in the woods twice a year! If you plan on taking your older children or teenagers and getting out in the wilderness can be a great way to teach your kids about nature. While you are strategizing and hunting the turkey you can also be teaching your kids about ecology, nature, wildlife, and the environment.

Hunting together can be something that your kids will remember for a lifetime, but turkey hunting can also be a great way for you to get some time out in the wilderness alone. If your life is very fast paced and pressure filled the peace and quiet of the wilderness can be a great way to relax when it all gets to be too much.

Many people also enjoy the sport of hunting. Turkey hunting requires a lot of strategy and planning. In order to be a successful turkey hunter you also need to have a lot of patience. The sporting aspect of the hunt is one of the main reasons that hunters like turkey hunting.

Do you hunt other game? Trying turkey hunting might be a nice change of pace from hunting deer or other game. Hunting another type of animal will help keep your hunting skills sharp in the off season. Since most hunting is traditionally done in the fall but going in the spring can be a fun way to get ready for more serious fall hunting.

The most obvious reason to try turkey hunting would be to get a fresh turkey. There is nothing quite like catching a turkey and then later eating it with your whole family. Start a new family tradition of catching the Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey for dinner, or donate your catch to a food pantry or charity. Using the turkey that you caught for food will make that dinner taste a lot better.
